Take the Bayview Shuttle to Candlestick

The start of the Crosstown Trail at Candlestick State Recreation Area was the hardest spot to get transportation to… until now!

You can now get a ride to Candlestick on public transit: the Bayview Shuttle.

The SFMTA is running a pilot program to provide better transit in the Bayview. It can pick you up and drop you off anywhere in the Bayview, including Candlestick Park. It also goes to important transit connections elsewhere.

How you can use it?

First, install the Shuttle App.

Then get yourself to where the shuttle picks up. Then call for the shuttle on the app, and specify you want to go to either “Candlestick Park” or the “Pelican Day Use Picnic Area“.

It takes from 5-20 minutes for the shuttle to arrive, so consider a spot where you can grab a coffee or explore the neighborhood. The app will tell you where the shuttle will pick you up and then the shuttle will take you to the park. Ask the driver to drop you off at the circle at the very end of the road–drivers may be surprised that they can drive that far into the park, but they can!

Some good pickup points

San Bruno Ave between Silver and Paul. Served by the 8, 9, 8AZ, 9R, and 44. The Portola business district, and home of the Burrows Pocket Park.

24th St Mission BART Station. BART access in the vibrant Mission District. Further from the service area so may take longer to arrive.

Bayshore Caltrain, convenient if you are coming from the Peninsula; the shuttle also goes to 22nd St Caltrain.

3rd and Paul. This is the closest spot on the T light rail, though there is not much to explore at this point. You can also go to a coffee shop or other spot elsewhere near 3rd St and get picked up from there.

Candlestick State Rec Area. Yes, if you end your trip at Candlestick you can also use the shuttle to pick you up!

Cost

The shuttle will cost a normal Muni Fare on your Clipper Card or MuniMobile app. It is free for the first few weeks. Let us know how your trip went!
